Hormone gel reduces risk of having a preemie

Do you use Twitter?  Well I recently set up a work twitter account- and started following medical journals- plastic surgeons- health news.. etc etc.. and today The New York Times tweeted this article

   In it they discuss a hormone gel that is believed to reduce the risk of premature birth in women with a short cervix. Its interesting because my doctor was a little concerned that my cervix was short- but no treatment was recommended (or probably available at the time).  Its worth a read if you or anyone you know is pregnant- and there is a chance they might have a short cervix.
