Dyllan's First Day of School

... Well daycare.

In her stroller ready to go!

Wow, what a BIG day for Miss Bug.  Her first day of Daycare.  She is getting so old- so free- so independent!  She's no baby anymore- she is a TODDLER.  And now that shes a toddler- she's got personality, spunk, energy, ambition, and most of all- she is a social butterfly who need to get out and socialize.

We decided to enroll Dyllan in daycare- one day a week so that I can get my work done- without having to cram everything into the small windows which is nap time.  I've picked up some more work for Dr. Santos- that I can do from home - which is working out great.  Well, great when I can get it done during nap time- but I've been finding that nap time everyday just isnt enough time to get everything done.  On top of that- the government is offering a Child Care Benefit- which pays 50% of childcare fees- making one day a week (7:30am- 6:30pm) cost us only $50- which I thought was pretty good.

So after one visit to Acerwoods daycare- Dyllan had us convinced that she would be happy playing there with the other kids- when she refused to leave.  She did NOT want to stop playing or go home after our visit.     Today was no different.  I packed up her school bag- and we walked down to her first day of school.    She was so excited when we got there.  She left me as soon as I put her down- and off she went to the big pool of balls.  I checked her in and waved goodbye- and off I went.

She would NOT hold still long enough to snap a clear picture.  It was kinda tricky getting a picture because daycare rules are you can take pictures with any other kids in them...oops.

I got so much done today- its amazing how much you can accomplish without a little bug by your side.  At around 2pm I called to check in on her- and they told me she was having a ball.  They were surprised  impressed with her "healthy appetite" (I think thats their nice way of saying she is a little piggy!)

Dan rode his bike home in time to walk down to pick Dyllan up at her first day.  We were both sooo excited to see her.  Its funny how much you can miss her when she's not around.  We were both talking about her all day- wondering how she was doing- and looking forward to picking her up.  When we got there- Dyllan spotted us- and gave us a HUGE smile- then came flying over toward us for hugs.  It was the best feeling.  She was happy- and we were so happy that she had a good day (and that she was excited to see us!)

  2. I'm impressed. I think I cried every time my parents left me at school up until the 2nd or 3rd grade.
