Dyllan Lately

Not Chelsea Lately.



So this blog is supposed to be mainly about dyllan- hence the name- "babyfignewton"... and lately other things have been the center of attention on the blog.  Which isn't to say that Dyllan isn't the center of attention in our lives.  She is.  She is so funny- she is just the happiest, most laid back, comical baby toddler in the world (our world).  Here are some of our favorite moments so far

• Singing at the top of her lungs most mornings from her stage (her crib)
• "Dada"
• Dancing Dyllan- she loves to bob to any music that comes on- and her favorite show (well the only DVD we own) is "The Wiggles"
• "Miss Piggy"- has an appetite of a baby sumo wrestler in training
• Eating from her stroller tray- which is WAY too high for her to see over- but her paws have no problem grabbing handfuls of food and shoveling them into her mouth
• Flying Dyllan- she loves to be thrown up in the air, thrown onto the bed, soar through the air, fly on a swing
• Precision fingers- she uses her "pinchers" (index finger and thumb) to pick up everything from little ants on the sidewalk to peas on her high chair to rocks at the playground (most of these end up in her mouth)
• Kids Club- she loves hanging out with the big kids at the kids club (gym) and when someone takes her toy she just stares with a blank look- not really phased- then moves onto something else
• Bath time- every night after Dyllan eats dinner- I bring her up to the bath- legs kicking with joy and food flying everywhere the whole way up the stairs- I set her down on the floor and she grabs onto the side of the tub- and bounces her knees- bopping up and down up and down- sooooo excited to hop in she can hardly wait for the tub to fill up.  She squeals with excitement as I drop her tubby toys into the tub- and hoists one leg up as high as it will go- hoping to get over the tub and into the bath!
• Vegi lover- everyone is always so surprised when they see me pull out a Tupperware of steamed broccoli or frozen mixed vegis at the Monday moms "mums" (still getting used to that!) group- and even more surprised to see Dyllan gobble it down like its candy. I guess we were lucky we didn't get a picky eater- at all!

• Favorite foods at the moment :
• Salmon
• vegis (broccoli, peas, carrots, corn.. etc etc- pretty much all vegis)
• avocado (is that a vegi?- she LOVES avocado and usually eats a whole one a day- good thing they are cheap here!)
• raisins/prunes/dates
• Greek yogurt
•  DRINKS (always drinking!) water with a splash of apple juice or apple/ black current are her favorites 
• pears
• watermelon
• grapes
• bananas (but they're too expensive here right now- $2.50 a banana!)
• chicken
• tuna
• sandwiches (open faced whole grain with tahini avocado and melted cheese)
• CAKE!
• Least Favorite foods/ doesn't want any part of:  When she doesn't want food or is full or whatever she makes a farting noise with her mouth and pretends to be spitting it out.
• eggs- any way
• blueberries (but I think that's because the ones she tried were old and gross..I didn't like them either)

  waiting at the car service place for 4 + hours- while our car got a new gear box.. ugh.  stupid car. 

  Favorite activities:
• Dancing- any form- high chair, car seat, standing table, upside down butt shake
• Swimming, water, baths, showers.. loves the water!
• Climbing up stairs
• Playing in the Tupperware drawer and her cupboard in the kitchen
• Playing the keyboard- both her musical keyboard and my computer keyboard
• Stroller Rides
• Swings
• Road Trips- and dancing to the music
•  Playing with older kids
• Noise making toys- and toy that plays music
• "The Wiggles"- DVD (the only DVD we have, therefore the only DVD she watches.. I am soo sick of it- and I already know every song by heart)
• Books and getting read to- we just put a bookshelf in her room to keep all her books
• Feeding herself
• Kids Club at the Gym
• Iphone games.. watching herself on the iphone videos, and youtube- she says she wants an ipad for her birthday..haha!

Picking Dyllan up at  Kids Club.. we look forward to sneaking in and seeing what she is up to .. then as soon as she sees us- she gets a huge smile..and comes crawling as fast as she can giggling toward us.  I seriously look forward to this moment every day.  She gets so excited!  And its so funny to see what she is up to each day.. she has a few best friends already.
